2003 Arbor Day Poster Contest

Santa Barbara Beautiful is a proud sponsor of the National Arbor Day Foundation’s 2003 Poster Contest.  The four local elementary schools participating in the competition include Adams; Cleveland; Franklin; and Harding.  Contest winners were introduced to the Mayor and City Council at the Arbor Day Proclamation Ceremony on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in council chambers.

The national poster contest was open to 5th grade students across the United States.  One winner has been selected from each participating school.  The four local winners from Santa Barbara will now compete on the state level in Sacramento.  One state-level winner will be chosen from each of the 50 states to compete on the national level at the National Arbor Day Foundation’s headquarters in Nebraska.  One grand prize poster will be chosen in April to represent this year’s theme,

“Trees are Terrific….from Acorn to Oaks!”

Santa Barbara Beautiful would like to thank the school principals and their contest coordinators for supporting this wonderful project.
